Wolfgang Seivers (1913 - 2007)

There are only a handful of industrial photographers from the days of old that have stood the test of time. Few shine brighter than Wolfgang Seivers. I first came across Wolfgang’s industrial photography work when I was in high school and to this day his work still continues to inspire me with its simplistic beauty and powerful use of lines, shape, tone and texture.

Who is Wolfgang Seivers?
Born in Berlin in 1913, Wolfgang Sievers grew up in the heyday of the Weimar Republic, when Berlin was regarded by many as the cultural and scientific centre of the world. His black and white work, is what he is principally remembered for, including his two most-known images, Matches at Bryant and May, Melbourne (1939) and Gears for Mining Industry, Vickers Ruwolt, Melbourne (1967). Since his arrival in Australia in 1938 Wolfgang Sievers made an extremely significant – but still largely unacknowledged – contribution to Australian cultural life.
Migrated to Australia in 1938, and arriving in Sydney intending to settle and practise as a photographer. The Pictorialist aesthetic was then dominant in Australian photography and Wolfgang was relieved to meet Max Dupain, whom he believed to be the only Australian photographer aware of modern ideas. This shows in all his work throughout his long and sum-what understated career.

Heavy Plant Equipment – Personal Project

Here is some personal shots I’ve been taking in my spare time. I have become somewhat obsessed with photographing heavy plant earth-moving machinery at night. Caterpillar, Volvo, Komat’su, Doosan… I love them all.

Wilh. Wilhelmsen Investments – Industrial Photography

Kieran White Photography was recently contracted by the Wilh. Wilhelmsen Investments group to generate industrial photography for the re-branding of two of their companies, Wiltrading and Stace Pty Ltd. Both Wiltrading and Stace service the Oil and Gas industry and presented their own photographic challenges.

Wiltrading being leaders in the Marine Industry since 1986, offering integrated activities in marine safety, fire fighting and protection, equipment and servicing. Also being experienced providers to the, Offshore, Oil and Gas, Shipping, Military and Cruise industries offering quality products and innovative solutions.

STACE having extensive research and development expertise, delivering Compressor sales and service, manufacturing capabilities, testing and certification, maritime engineering, hyperbaric sales and service, valve pipework and heat exchangers.

National Communications Manager, Rachael Talbot was very specific on the photographic requirements for the Job. But despite each company having its own challenging elements to capture, the result were photos both the client and the photographer were very happy with. Those photographs are now in use across the two companies, used both externally and internally but most prominently on their new websites.

Industrial Photography Website – Relaunched

Yes its been a long time coming but i have finally bitten the HTML bullet and relaunched my website. As you can see the whole website is more refined than ever before.
In the new site you will find a whole lot of imagery I’ve been hiding on my hard-drives, while I’ve been too busy shooting to upload any new content.
